1.   SEASON OVERVIEW

The 2026/2027 Summer season will commence the weekend of Saturday 3rd / Sunday 4th October.  There will be 14 rounds plus 2 rounds of finals.

·       There will be no games Melbourne Cup weekend (Saturday 31st October / Sunday 1st November 2026).

·       There will be no games election weekend (Saturday 28th / Sunday 29th November 2026)

·       There will be a midseason break during the end of year school holidays (17th December 2026 – 27th January 2027)

·       There will be no games Labour Day weekend (Saturday 6th / Sunday 7th March 2027)

Round 1 is the last weekend of the school holidays. MBA has made the decision to start the season a week earlier than usual to allow for a 14 game season given there will be no games the weekend of the state election (due to many venues being unavailable).  Team training sessions will commence the week of 5th October (Term 4) which is the week after round 1.  We understand this might cause some frustration for some teams however this is out of our control.

Most of our Coaches are volunteers who give up their time so children can play basketball. Behind the scenes, they put in a lot of work to plan training sessions in preparation for game day.  It is the club’s expectation that all players attend each weekly training session to develop their skills as individuals and as a team.

 2.   AGE GROUPS

AThere have been changes to the age group structure of the junior domestic competition.

·       U18 Girls age group has been replaced with U19 Girls.

·       U20 Boys age group has been replaced with U23 Mens.

Age groups for the upcoming 2026/2027 Summer season are based on the following birth years.

3.   FEES

We are pleased to advise there will be no increase to the club registration fees for the upcoming 2026/2027 Summer season.  Our club fees will remain at $315 which covers all regular season games and training sessions.  An early bird price of $300 will apply to players registered before midnight on Saturday 8th August 2026.

Families with 2 or more players with the club will receive an additional 8% discount for the second and subsequent players.  This discount will automatically be applied when registering.

 OTHER FEES

BASKETBALL VICTORIA ANNUAL LICENCE FEE

Junior players (17 years and under) are charged a $34 annual fee directly to Basketball Victoria.  Senior players (18 years and over) are charged a $48 annual fee.  This fee covers player’s insurance for any basketball competition played in Victoria at any time during the 12 month period.  If you have previously paid the fee within the last 12 months you will not be charged the fee if you use the same PlayHQ account to register.

 NEW GAME DEVELOPMENT LEVY

Basketball Australia charges an annual Game Development Levy of $5.50

 McKINNON BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION FEE

The MBA are charging a player registration fee of $84.  This is the door entry for Junior players for the season as well as venue entry for an unlimited number of spectators.  This will be a line item on PlayHQ which every Junior player will pay on registration.   Please note that this fee covers only the games in the regular season and does not include the finals rounds.

4.   HOW TO REGISTER

Registrations are now open and will close midnight on Friday 28th August 2026.

Please note that any requests to register after this date is at the discretion of the club and a place in a team will not be guaranteed.  Please ensure you register by the due date.

The PlayHQ platform manages the registration process and payments.  If you have previously registered through PlayHQ please ensure that you use the same account to register this time.  If you are new you will need to create a PlayHQ account.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Go to our website https://www.southeastwarriors.com.au/ and click on the relevant registration link; or use the link below:

 https://www.playhq.com/basketball-victoria/register/c85f3f

You will be required to create an account in your own name as parent/guardian or use the account you created previously.  Don't create the account in the child's name. Please use an email address that you will have access to over the next 12 months as PlayHQ currently doesn't provide the ability to change/update email addresses of account holders.

 1.     Register your eldest child.

2.     Second and subsequent children; unfortunately, PlayHQ does not yet allow for registering all your children at the same time.  The quickest way is to use the link again to register a second child.  In the "Choose User" section select "Register New Family Member or Dependent" and in the next section select "Player" and continue. When you get to the payment section your discount is automatically applied.

3.     If you are registering as Coach or Team Manager, you are required to register yourself as such. Use the link again and in the "Choose User" section select "I am registering myself" and in the next section select "Coach" or "Team Manager" and continue.

 PLAYER CLEARANCE AND TRANSFER

Players transferring to or from the South East Warriors must request a club transfer at the time of registration.  This is completed through PlayHQ.  You will be prompted to activate a club transfer request which will be sent to the departing and accepting clubs and MBA for approval.

Once approvals have been granted, you will receive an email advising that registration can be completed. This process may take a couple of days.  Please note, MBA restricts the number of transfers per team.

COACHES AND TEAM MANAGERS

All Coaches and Team Managers are required to register through PlayHQ to be allocated to a team.  There is no fee associated with this.  These roles are vital to make our club and teams a success.  Please consider putting your hand up to support our players in what is a great fun and fulfilling contribution to our community.  All volunteers over the age of 18 MUST have a current WWCC, these are free to obtain.

Go to: Working with Children Check | Victorian Government (www.vic.gov.au) to find out how to obtain one.

PAYMENT METHODS

PlayHQ will accept payment by credit/debit card, Google Pay and Paypal payable at time of registration.  Please note that PlayHQ also includes the ‘Paypal Pay in 4’ option which enables you to pay fees by 4 instalments. If you need assistance with payment, please email:  clubmanager@southeastwarriors.com.au
